The story behind The Reading DNA
I built The Reading DNA because I wanted something I couldn’t find.
I’ve been tracking my books on Goodreads since 2009, and I listen to more than 100 audiobooks a year. Over time, I realised my reading history was being stored, but not really understood.
I didn’t want another shelf, star rating, or list of popular books. I wanted recommendations that understood why I liked something: the pacing, themes, characters, mood, narrator, and patterns that kept showing up in what I read and listened to.
I tried the existing tools. Some were useful, but none gave me the personal recommendation layer I wanted. So I started building private AI agents for myself to help me find better books.
Those experiments eventually became The Reading DNA.
The idea is simple: turn your real reading history into a personal taste profile, then use it to find books that actually fit.
Built by a reader, for readers.
